Rainy Weather Activities

Join the forum discussion on this post - (1) Posts

We all know that the winter brings a long holiday away from school for the kids…and a lot of effort on the part of their parents to keep those kids happy when its raining outside.  There are many activities around Redding that the kids will love while parents can be happy the kids are getting some form of exercise during the rainy months.  Some of the ideas are:

  • Ice skating at the Siskiyou Ice Rink in Mt. Shasta
  • Roller skating at Viking Skate Country in Redding
  • Bowling at one of Redding’s 2 bowling alleys
  • Cruising the Mt. Shasta Mall
  • Playing games at home such as twister and hula hooping
  • Nintendo Wii has games for the family including Dance Dance Revolution and boxing
  • Attend local art studios such as All Fired Up (pottery/ceramics)
  • Kids Yoga at various locations
  • The YMCA has basketball, swimming, kids exercise classes and more!  Also, if you volunteer 2 hrs per week your membership is FREE!  Call Clint at 530.227.0345 for more information!
  • Turtle Bay Exploration Park Open Art Studio every Monday

Downtown Redding Xmas Lights

For those looking for a great Christmas outing, stop by Starbucks, Dutch Bros. or brew your own hot chocolate and pile the kids in the car!  There is a fantastic Christmas light display in the old downtown mall just outside the Village Schoolhouse and the new Shasta College Nursing facility.  It is a great time to have some family fun and doesn’t cost a penny but your time!  Go enjoy and let me know how it goes!
