Well it is a fairly clear day today which enables us to see the fires and where exactly they are burning. Unfortunately the heat is miserable as it is currently 105 degrees and the forecast is for 114 degrees (usually around 3pm). So stay inside if you don’t need to go out…although the smoke has subsided over most of the greater Redding area, the areas to the West are still covered with smoke and the air quality all around is still not good.
The Moon Fire located around Platina and Ono, California had grown in size due to gusty winds leading to many evacuations. As of this morning, 100 families living on Rainbow Lake, Rector Creek and Buell roads had been evacuated and later this morning another evacuation order was given for South Fork, Zogg Mine and Archer Roads. Road closures include Rock Creek, Iron Mountain, Rainbow, Platina and Buell.
