4th of July in Redding

If you will be in Redding around the 4th of July, you will be in for a great treat.  Each year progressively, the fireworks display put on by the city has outdone itself.  What is now a day-long activity of tents, chairs, family, fun and friends takes place at the Redding Convention Center along its grasses, sidewalks, roads and, basically, anywhere you can fit!  From the water’s edge of the Sacramento River to the on-ramp of Hwy 44 people will be lined up to watch the great display, eat the great food and listen to wonderful music.  Vendors will walk around peddling their wares while thousands feign off the heat long enough to enjoy the display.

Down the road at Sequioa Middle School the field will fill up with those that don’t want to walk all the way to the convention center but still want to take part in the action close by.  The Garden Tract neighborhood is flooded with cars….some residents even selling parking spots in their driveway to lucky firework watchers so they can park close-by.

On the bluff overlooking the Sacramento, near the water towers on Hilltop Drive the same scene will erupt.  As a young child this is where we watched, with gorgeous overhead views of the display and the river rushing by simultaneously.

For one brief day in Redding, and all across the nation, we pause.  Taking a moment, only a moment in our “busy lives” to pay tribute to our country, the freedoms that it provides to us and those that have fought so valiently to provide us those freedoms.

4th of July will be spectacular this year, as it is every year in Redding and we hope you will join us in celebration.
